Eczema. For the last 3 years I have tried every steroid cream, moisturiser and antihistamine that I can get my hands on. Nothing has healed my skin. It’s time to see if following a plant based diet can heal my body from the inside out.
I apologise for neglecting Frankie Fancies for so long, I haven’t really felt like writing. My recent change in lifestyle has started to bring out the old me again and I can’t wait to start updating you on my life, along with my new journey.
Changing my diet isn’t just a random experiment. I have read so many case studies where people have been in a similar place to me and a vegan diet has been their winning cure. I get a number of symptoms which suggest I could have a food allergy, from spots around my mouth to an itchy throat, a poorly tummy and a tight chest. The doctors aren’t helping me so it is time to help myself.
I started my vegan diet a week ago today. I still have eczema but I am significantly less itchy than ever before, the spots on my face are starting to disappear and my weeping eczema wounds are starting to heal. Hey, it’s only been a week and it’s a bloody hard lifestyle change, but if it’s already helping me who knows what could happen in a few months time. This is the most positive I have ever felt about being eczema free.
I’m going to be sharing the different recipes and snacks I try (the tasty ones, of course!) ย and the rest of my little vegan/plant based journey with you all. I don’t know if I’ll end up reintroducing food groups in the future, but I’m truly hopeful that this is the beginning to the end of my eczema – and a far healthier lifestyle. I’ve already noticed so many other benefits and I can’t wait to see what other positive changes this makes to my life. I’m really excited.

YES!!! I advocate a vegan diet 110%!!! I’ve been doing much better in my journey since going vegan, my skin is more hydrated and digestion is much better.. I started eating vegan two years ago, but then had a seafood binge for some reason lol for like a month. So my true time of being fully vegan is a full year this month. Eczema is all about how our internal detox organs are processing and if the kidneys, liver and gut aren’t filtering properly then it will show on the skin. Animal products are to digest and take soooo long to process and this can cause purification in the colon and digestive issues. All of this toxicity built up in the body and not eliminating properly shows up as acne, eczema etc. because our skin needs to detox it out and that’s the last resort. You can check out this post I did on going plant based if you need more info and inspiration and feel free to email me for advice etc! eczema.holistic.healing@gmail.com https://eczemaholistichealing.wordpress.com/2016/06/05/simple-steps-to-going-on-a-plant-based-diet/
Good luck on this awesome lifestyle change, I’m so glad you’re already feeling the benefits of it!! ๐
Take care,

Maybe you already tried this and it didn’t work, but, I use Aveeno Eczema Therapy moisturizing cream, and I’m 100% better. And I do agree with you on foods being directly linked to some of the conditions we suffer from. I think I am sensitive to gluten, which I have eliminated (for the most part) from my diet. And I keep my carbs to a minimum which has allowed me to lose a significant amount of weight (I still have a ways to go in that area). My dry itchy skin is completely clear, soft and smooth again.

I’m really glad you’ve found what works for you and great to hear your skin is clear again! Unfortunately I’m a bit sensitive to Aveeno cream, but I appreciate your comment as I always like to hear what works for other people so I can give it a go! Xx

I’ve been vegan for 2 years now and love this new lifestyle. Research a bit about processed fats as well, like oils etc as they can contribute to a lot of bad side effects too! ๐ Good Luck!

Congratulations!! What an amazing decision. I’m sure you’ll notice that more than your eczema will improve. You won’t ever want to go back once you see what plants can do for your body. That’s how I was. I was at the end of my rope with my digestive issues and acne and now I’ve improved so much!
PS. I started my blog for people like you (new vegans and people exploring the possibility of going vegan). Check it out for tips and recipes.

Let me know if you find any cures or something that helps your eczema! I’m vegan as well and unfortunately it hasn’t cured me, but I believe mine is more from allergens of what I touch!! I hope your eczema gets better, it’s such a painful, irritating thing to have ๐ฆ I wouldn’t wish it on anyone!

I have eczema and have had it for about 30 years. I recently suspected that I may be intolerant to citric acid. Having eliminated it from my diet my skin is finally clear without steroids of any kind
